Embracing the Spirit of Independence Day

Saturday, July 1, 2023

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners."

Isaiah 61:1

Dear Friend,

As people of faith, we hold dear the values of liberty and freedom in Israel and worldwide. As we come together with our loved ones to commemorate the 4th of July—America's Independence Day—we reflect on the values that unify America as a nation: liberty, resilience, and an unwavering spirit of unity. These principles reverberate not only within our borders but extend beyond, reaching out to those burdened by the weight of past atrocities and challenges.

Among those bearing such burdens are Holocaust survivors. Both those who have passed and those who remain alive are living testaments. Their stories of courage and resilience profoundly touch us—their survival against unimaginable odds speaks volumes of their indomitable spirit. Vision for Israel has had the privilege of serving these heroes, seizing every opportunity to bring joy, comfort, and honor to their remarkable journeys.

Recently, VFI took on the task of assisting these heroes by providing comfort during their twilight years. Some cannot afford to purchase basic personal hygiene items. VFI was asked to deliver a package of disposable hygienic products each month valued at $120 per person, customized to each individual's needs and delivered to their homes. This initiative is a pilot project for 100 survivors and, with sufficient funding, can be extended to assist more survivors.

Your generous support can ensure that these valiant individuals, who have weathered life's harshest storms, receive the respect and care they truly deserve. You can help alleviate their financial strains, contribute to their well-being, and, most importantly, remind them that they are not forgotten.

Alongside these survivors, new immigrants from various parts of the world have sought solace on Israel's shores. Fleeing from adversity and hardship, they arrived in Israel in search of a fresh start. Vision for Israel extends support to these individuals too, helping them find stability in a new land.

As we celebrate our freedom and independence this 4th of July, we invite you to extend your blessings to these two distinct groups in Israel—the Holocaust survivors, who have endured the unimaginable, and the new immigrants seeking a fresh start.

Your contributions help provide financial assistance, organize community events, offer warm blankets for winter, food baskets, hygienic products, and much more. Together, we can ensure that the spirit of Independence Day resonates not only for us but for those in need in Israel as well.

"He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free."

Psalm 146:7

Wishing you all a Happy 4th of July!

Vision for Israel is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charity. All contributions designated for specific projects shall be applied to those projects, and we may assess up to 20% to be used for administering the gift. Occasionally, we receive more contributions for a given project than can be wisely applied to that project. When that happens, we use these funds to meet a similar pressing need.
