Pack to School Project: 25 Years of Backpacks

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles..."

Isaiah 40:31

Dear Friends,

This month, Israel marks its 77th Independence Day—a moment that invites deep reflection and heartfelt celebration. As we remember the miracle of Israel’s rebirth in 1948, we are reminded of the hardships our people have endured and the triumph of God’s promises fulfilled through the resilience of generations. From war and wandering to revival and rebuilding, this journey has not only been about survival, but about hope.

And yet, the future of Israel does not only rest on the victories of the past—but in the hands of our children today. Every year, thousands of Israeli children—many from impoverished, at-risk, or terror-affected families—start the school year without the basic supplies they need. A simple backpack may seem small, but for a child struggling to feel secure, it is a symbol of dignity, belonging, and opportunity. When a child walks into class without the tools their classmates have, their sense of self-worth is often the first thing to suffer. That loss echoes far beyond the classroom.

Vision for Israel’s Pack to School project was born from this very need. And this year marks a powerful milestone: 25 years since we first launched this initiative. Since then, thanks to friends like you, we’ve been able to distribute over 300,000 fully stocked backpacks to children in need.

Each backpack is packed with love and care to help each child start the year strong. But more than that, it carries a message: You are not forgotten. You are loved.

We are currently preparing for our 2025 distribution, and as we gauge the scope of the need, we know this year may be one of the greatest yet. Families continue to reel from economic strain, regional conflict, and displacement. The need is real—and growing.

As we celebrate Israel’s 77th year of independence, will you help shape the future by investing in its children? Just $45 provides a complete backpack for one child. That’s $45 to change a child’s experience of school—and maybe even their life.

Your generosity gives more than school supplies—it gives hope. It shows these precious children that they are part of Israel’s story and that their future matters. Give now to provide a backpack of hope (dedicate your donation to Educational Advancement).

Thank you for standing with us—for 31 years of impact and a future still unfolding. Together, we’re building something eternal.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Barry & Batya
