Together, we were able to distribute more than £1.7 million ($2.3 million) across the land of Israel, reaching thousands of lives with practical help and lasting hope.

Eighty-four safety shelters. Three life-saving ambulances. Hundreds of Holocaust survivors and terror victims cared for. Thousands of families fed. Hundreds of children sent back to school equipped and encouraged. Every one of these figures is a person, and every person is a story your generosity helped write.

The war with Iran is no longer a distant headline scrolling across a screen. For families across Israel, it is the reality they wake up to every morning and carry with them to bed each night. And while so much of the world’s attention remains fixed on the front lines, there is another story unfolding quietly in living rooms, kitchens, and shelters throughout this nation. It is lonelier. It is harder to photograph. And it is breaking the hearts of parents who never imagined they would need help to feed their children.

We are writing to you today because the need in Israel is shifting. The war has not ended, and its weight is no longer being borne by soldiers and their families alone. It is being carried by mothers who are rationing what is left in the pantry. By fathers whose small businesses shuttered when the sirens sounded. By grandparents trying to comfort grandchildren who flinch at every loud noise. By teenagers who have not sat in a classroom in weeks and are quietly grieving the loss of a normal life.

These families are not statistics. They are our neighbours. The dental assistant, the carpenter, the preschool teacher, the delivery driver, the accountant. They are people who once had stable lives and who now find themselves in need of basics, embarrassed and exhausted, wondering aloud how it came to this.

In communities across northern Israel, the toll has been especially severe. Life there has been disrupted in ways that are hard to imagine. Many were evacuated from their homes months ago and remain displaced, living in hotels, temporary housing, or with relatives in crowded apartments. Others stayed and watched their livelihoods evaporate as shops closed, tourism collapsed, and regular customers vanished. Schools have been intermittent at best. Basic goods have grown scarce. Families are facing shortages of essential food and household supplies, the kind of daily staples most of us take for granted without a second thought.

Our team has seen this firsthand. We have held the hands of elderly Israelis who survived one war only to find themselves living through another. And we have prayed quietly with young couples whose voices cracked with exhaustion as they whispered their fears about the future.

While we continue to support our soldiers and first responders, the growing need now is for civilians. Ordinary families. Parents, children, and elderly individuals who are quietly struggling to hold their lives together. We are preparing to deliver food packages and basic necessities to those in the most urgent need, beginning in the communities where the instability has hit hardest.

Food aid is one of the most immediate and tangible ways to bring relief. It means a parent does not have to apologize to their children for an empty pantry. It means a young couple can stop lying awake at night counting what is left in the bank account.

More than calories, a food package carries a message. It tells a weary family that someone sees them. That someone remembers them. That they have not been forgotten in the noise of headlines and the busyness of the wider world.

Feeding the Families Left Behind by the Headlines

"After many days you will be called to arms. In future years you will invade a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and now all of them live in safety."

The first three months of 2026 have tested Israel in ways few could have imagined. Even as families were still recovering from the toll of prolonged reserve duty and displacement, a new chapter of conflict opened in March with the outbreak of the Israel-Iran war, Operation Roaring Lion. Through it all, Vision for Israel has remained on the ground, responding with urgency and compassion to the needs of soldiers, families, children, and survivors.

This quarterly report offers a window into the work your generosity has made possible. From couples’ processing evenings that strengthen marriages strained by war, to hot meals delivered to soldiers on the Golan Heights, to Passover gift cards distributed under the sound of sirens, every act of service described here was carried out because you chose to stand with the people of Israel.

Gift Cards Bring Relief to Welfare Families in the South

Our team traveled to a southern city to distribute gift cards to welfare families who needed urgent assistance. Forty-four families received a 350 NIS gift card each. Among them was an elderly, visually impaired man who made the difficult journey despite having only limited hours of companion care. Social workers shared how deeply these families are struggling and how much even modest support means. Each card represented more than groceries; it was a lifeline of dignity and proof that someone cares.

At the Millennium Centre in Modi’in, 23 reservist couples braved stormy weather to attend an evening of guided relationship processing. After a warm welcome and light refreshments, a brief lecture set the tone before couples moved into private, partitioned spaces for intimate conversation. A therapist circulated among them, offering encouragement and professional support. The evening continued with a rich dinner and a session led by a medical clown that brought laughter and relief. Each couple received a gift bag with a fleece blanket and a cosmetic product. The response was overwhelming, with soldiers and staff alike calling it one of the most important evenings they had experienced.

Safety Shelters Dedicated in Memory of the Sharabi Family

Brothers Eli and Yossi Sharabi were taken hostage on 7 October 2023. Eli was released after 491 days, only to learn that his wife, Lianne, and their two daughters, Noya and Yahel, had been murdered. Yossi died in captivity. Thanks to donor support, VFI dedicated two safety shelters in their memory. Yossi’s shelter in Tekuma was painted with a sea-inspired theme honouring his love of surfing. The shelter for Lianne, Noya, and Yahel was adorned with red poppies and butterflies, symbols of remembrance, life, and hope. Family members, including Eli, attended the dedications.

A Day of Strength for Commanders’ Wives

Twenty-five wives of battalion commanders gathered at the Millennium Centre for a day of emotional processing and renewal. These women carry the weight of prolonged absences and the unique pressures of their husbands’ leadership roles. In partnership with an organization that supports mothers through emotional and spiritual development, VFI hosted the full day. Participants were divided into small groups led by psychologists and professional facilitators, followed by a shared lunch and a creative workshop designing pictures from pebbles. The women expressed deep gratitude, presenting the VFI team with a certificate of appreciation.

Nourishing Israel’s Most Vulnerable Children

Through our Nutritional Security Project, VFI partners with the Warm Home initiative to provide daily hot lunches for 15 to 17 at-risk children. For many of these children, this is the only hot meal they receive each day. But it is far more than food. It is a moment of calm, stability, and care in the middle of a complex young life. A consistent, nutritious meal gives a child’s body strength and their soul a sense of security. It is a daily reminder that they matter, they are seen, and someone is looking out for them.

An Evening of Appreciation for Reservists’ Wives

Fifty-eight wives of reservists came together at the Millennium Centre for an evening of respite, reflection, and appreciation. The gathering provided a safe and supportive space where women living a shared reality could connect and be heard. The evening included refreshments, intimate discussion circles, a luxurious dinner, and a creative workshop where participants designed personalized thermal cups with encouraging messages. Each woman also received a personalized pendant from VFI. These women form and sustain the home front, and the gratitude expressed by battalion staff confirmed just how deeply this investment in their wellbeing matters.

On the first Shabbat of the Israel-Iran war, VFI provided a nourishing Shabbat dinner and breakfast for approximately 100 reserve soldiers serving on the Golan Heights. These soldiers had already completed four intensive combat tours in Gaza and Lebanon before being re-enlisted. In challenging field conditions, the Shabbat meal was far more than sustenance. It was a moment of feeling at home, a reminder that the home front stands behind them. The abundance of food was enough to share with another battalion. Command staff expressed deep gratitude for VFI’s support during Operation Roaring Lion.

Warm Gear for Soldiers in Enemy Territory

VFI delivered a rapid response to reconnaissance soldiers from the Paratrooper Brigade operating deep inside enemy territory in Lebanon’s mountainous northern sector. Facing extreme cold and complex field conditions, the fighters urgently needed winter gear. VFI purchased and delivered sleeping bags, fleece jackets, thermal socks, wool hats, neck warmers, and other essentials. The soldiers shared that the supplies made a significant difference, both physically and emotionally, strengthening their sense of connection to the people back home. The company commander personally expressed deep appreciation for VFI’s rapid mobilization.

Passover Gift Cards Distributed Under Sirens

Over two weeks leading up to Passover, VFI distributed gift cards across central and southern Israel, reaching 1,282 families for a total value of 462,900 NIS. The distributions took place against the backdrop of active conflict. In Rishon LeTzion, a siren sounded moments after a distribution ended. In Petach Tikva, shrapnel reports and constant sirens kept many families from coming. In Gedera, the team sheltered with anxious residents who expressed both fear and amazement that our team had traveled so far under such conditions. In addition to centralized distributions, gift cards were provided to Holocaust survivors, terror victims, and soldiers.

Safety Shelters Placed Across the North and South

During the first quarter, VFI placed 19 safety shelters in communities across northern and southern Israel. Shelters were installed in high-traffic and vulnerable locations, including soccer fields, bus stops, parks, kindergartens, a military base, settlement entrances, a swimming pool complex, a greenhouse area, a playground, a grocery store, and a parking lot in a new neighbourhood. Since the project’s inception, a total of 502 shelters have now been placed, providing life-saving protection for families, children, and communities across the country.

On Every Front: Vision for Israel’s Q1 2026 Impact

As the spring harvest ripens across Israel, we approach one of the most meaningful seasons on the biblical calendar. Shavuot, the Feast of Weeks, begins the evening of 21 May. It is a time when the Jewish people honour the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and the offering of the firstfruits of the harvest to God.

The firstfruits offering was an act of faith. The people brought the very first and best of their harvest to the Temple, not knowing what the rest of the season would bring. And woven into that offering was a powerful command: do not forget the widow, the orphan, or the stranger among you. Let your abundance become their lifeline.

This Shavuot, that ancient call takes on an urgency we feel in our bones.

The war between Israel and Iran continues to touch every corner of daily life. Sirens send families running for shelter at all hours. Indiscriminate missile attacks, including cluster munitions, are striking populated areas, putting innocent men, women, and children at immediate risk. Picture a mother rushing her toddler down a dark hallway at two in the morning, or an elderly woman with a walker trying to reach shelter before impact. This is daily life in Israel right now.

And here is the reality many outside the country do not fully grasp: not every home or neighbourhood has access to a secure shelter. When a missile is inbound, there may be only seconds to find cover. For those who have nowhere to run, those seconds carry an unbearable weight.

That is why Vision for Israel has committed to building and installing reinforced bomb shelters in high-risk, underserved communities across the country. Each shelter is designed to withstand the force of missile strikes and can protect multiple families at once, providing physical safety and the emotional reassurance that comes from knowing there is a place to go when the sirens sound.

To date, thanks to your donations, Vision for Israel has installed over 500 safety shelters in northern and southern Israel. Dozens of communities where families now have somewhere to run. But the need continues to grow. As the conflict persists, more communities are being targeted, and more neighbourhoods remain without protection. Each shelter costs £10,400 ($14,000) to build and install, and every donation brings us closer to placing the next one where it is needed most.

The firstfruits offering was never about giving from leftovers. It was about giving from the first and the best, trusting God to provide the rest. When you give to this project, you become an active partner standing in the gap for families who cannot protect themselves.
