“Blow the trumpet at the time of the New Moon, at the full moon, on our solemn feast day."
Psalm 81:3
Dear Friends,
Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown on 22 September—a time of reflection, renewal, and recommitment to God’s purposes. As the shofar sounds across the Land of Israel, its call rings out not only in celebration—but in urgent appeal.
Today, 43% of Israelis report having to forgo even basic necessities due to financial strain. The cost of living has surged, and behind every statistic is a real person—someone just trying to survive.
At Vision for Israel, we’ve seen this need firsthand. In preparation for the High Holidays, we’ve distributed gift cards to over 1,260 families—each receiving about £75 ($100)—to help them buy food, clothing, and essentials for the new year. But the need continues to rise.
Let us tell you about G. He has served faithfully in Israel’s Air Force reserves since October 2023, putting in countless hours to protect the country he loves. G. and his wife have two young daughters. Before the war, he launched a small handyman business to provide for his growing family. But when duty called, that business had to stop.
Then, last Rosh Hashanah, tragedy struck. On his way home for the holiday, G. was injured in a serious car accident. Since then, he’s faced ongoing medical issues, and his wife—crippled by anxiety—has struggled to care for their children. Their rent is high, their bills are overdue, and they are in desperate need of both financial and emotional support.
This is just one family among many.
As we dip apples into honey this year, let’s remember those for whom this season feels more bitter than sweet. Together, we can turn that bitterness into sweetness—offering help, dignity, and the love of Yeshua to families in crisis.
Will you answer the shofar’s call and help us deliver food and hope to families across Israel?
Your Rosh Hashanah gift of £75 ($100) or more will help another struggling family—like G’s—receive the resources they need for the high holidays and beyond.
Please give today.
From our hearts to yours—may your new year be sweet, full of joy, and marked by acts of compassion.
Shana Tovah,
Barry & Batya
