Who doesn't love to snuggle with a warm blanket in the winter?
Showers of blessing came down over Israel in the past week. Although rain is considered a blessing for the earth, for many needy families, the rain poses a daily challenge and makes life more difficult in certain aspects. Many people suffer from lack of clothes, and when they wash their clothes, they don't have a way to dry them since they can't hang them outside. Vision for Israel donated a dryer to a needy family this week. The family includes a single parent with 2 children who live in a one-room apartment. The dryer will help them dry their clothes quickly and efficiently.
Ilanit, one of our recipients, has had a pretty tough life. Her father abandoned her family when she was a young girl, and her mother raised her by herself. When Ilanit was 14 years old, her mother died, leaving her alone, an orphan. Ilanit went to a boarding school, joined the army at 18 and tried to rebuild her life. She got married and had a little girl, but her husband became addicted to gambling and caused the family to fall into severe debt, and she divorced him.
Many Holocaust survivors don't go out for recreation due to poor health or financial and emotional difficulties. This past week, we got to fund a fun activity for the dear survivors. The group was treated to a play at the Gesher Theater in Jaffa. Vision for Israel sponsored both the transportation to the theater and the tickets for the show. For some, it was the first time they watched a play in Israel. The organizer of the event wrote us, saying, "The evening was wonderful. The people enjoyed every moment and especially the play, which was at a very high cultural level.
