Over the last year, we have been developing a relationship with Operation Good Neighbor. The operation is meant to provide aid to the Syrian population who has been suffering greatly due to the long and hard war in their country. As part of this project, essential food and supplies are being passed to the Syrian citizens over the border. Medical aid is also given to the injured in clinics that have been set up especially for this purpose.

Most of the students at Amit High School in Jerusalem come from complicated socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of them suffer from a lack of food at home, and they arrive at school hungry, without having eaten breakfast. The hunger bothers them until lunchtime, which affects their studying. We recognize the importance of healthy nutrition for students and therefore started donating food supplies to the school so they can provide the students with breakfast.

Recently, we received a thank-you letter from the school's principal, saying:

Hamifal Organization has been one of our longest standing relationships in the history of VFI. The organization educates children who come from difficult family backgrounds and face academic, emotional, and social problems. Vision for Israel donated scholarships to 22 of the students. These students demonstrated excellence in academic and social achievements as well as contributing to the community. The children received the scholarships during a fun day at a water park that is held annually.

When a boy reaches Bar Mitzvah age, it is a very exciting time that most families like to celebrate with appropriate dignity. However, many families in Israel suffer from harsh financial situations and cannot fund a Bar Mitzvah celebration for their sons.

Vision for Israel has joined forces with the Ashkelon social services in an annual Bar Mitzvah celebration project they hold for boys who come from low-income families. The project provides a powerful experience for the boys and creates sweet memories they carry for many years.

Vision for Israel has been giving much support to Arazim, a special-needs school attended by children with mental, emotional, and behavioral problems.  Many of these children come from low socio-economic backgrounds, and the situations in their homes are often so bad that they arrive at school without having had anything to eat.

It is important for us to ensure that these children don’t go hungry and are able to study and advance through both their studies and their personal challenges.

One of the closest things to our hearts is helping new immigrants in Israel acclimate to life in the Land.  We work with absorption centers throughout the country to provide necessities to new immigrants.

Recently we had the opportunity to help the Ibim Absorption Center, located by Sderot in the south.  About six months ago, 202 new immigrants from Ethiopia arrived at the center.  The immigrants arrived with next to nothing and they are suffering from extreme poverty.  The State of Israel provides some benefits to them, but not enough to meet all their needs.
