“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Rom 12:12
“You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor. But the eyes of the wicked will fail, and escape will elude them; their hope will become a dying gasp.” Job 11: 18-20
Winter has officially begun in Israel, and unfortunately, there are many needy families who suffer greatly because they don't have the means to stay warm on cold days. Last week, our team went to visit needy families in Jerusalem and brought many supplies including warm clothes, blankets, heaters, toys and other items to help the families through the cold winter.
Earlier this month, Vision for Israel sponsored a special event, a Bar/Bat Mitzvah celebration for children whose families are victims of terror. The festive day began early in the morning, when buses carrying the boys and girls and their families arrived in Jerusalem. The large group gathered at the entrance to the Kotel and was led to a beautiful hall nearby, where the love was felt everywhere as the guests of honor arrived. The boys and girls and their families enjoyed a festive breakfast and received bags overflowing with gifts.
The warehouse received visiting guests from California who were interested in volunteering for an afternoon. Upon arrival, Barry Segal greeted the visitors with a brief history of Vision for Israel and The Joseph Storehouse. They then proceeded outside where tables were already arranged with empty boxes lined up in the middle of the parking lot, flanked with boxes of clothing that needed sorting prior to distribution. The weather was perfect for this arrangement -- lots of sunshine with a nice breeze.
“Yet a little while, and He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith; but if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him.” Heb 10:37-38
“Evening and morning and at noon I will pray and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice.” Ps 55:17
Shabbat shalom to all, especially those bar/bat mitzvahs from terror victim families who have celebrated this year.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isa 9:6
WARMEST HOLIDAY GREETINGS: Vision for Israel & The Joseph Storehouse staff members pray for warm family gatherings, meaningful worship and joyful celebrations for all of our friends around the globe. May there be renewed hope and love, and a keener expectation of the returning King in the soon coming new year.
