Holocaust survivors in Israel suffer from severe loneliness, health problems, and poverty. Our friends at Café Europa founded their initiative with the goal of providing survivors with a weekly meetup to ease their loneliness, which includes a meal, enriching activities, and the sharing of essential information. Vision for Israel has partnered with the club over the last several years to sponsor many of their events.
After a year full of activities and experiences, the group recently got together for a concluding meeting at the magical Jerusalem Botanical Gardens, where they talked and summarized the past year with the volunteers and team. The survivors who arrived there looked with awe at the beautiful sight of the blooming pond.
VFI provided an abundant breakfast at the garden's cafe. In this pleasant atmosphere, the hearts of the survivors were opened, and they shared personal stories, deepening the friendship between the members. They expressed their thanks to the organizers, volunteers, and donors for Café Europa, which is like a home, a social circle, and a source of support in times of need.
We are excited to conclude another year with Café Europa and are looking forward to the next year! It is thanks to you, our generous donors, that we can continue to support this club’s activities.
