INCOMING TOURISM CONTINUES TO BREAK RECORDS: Israel's incoming tourism continues to break records, with June's 2019 tourist entries rising 18% compared to the same period last year. The country also saw a 10% increase in tourist entries over the first half of 2019. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, approximately 365,000 tourist entries were recorded in June 2019, 17.7% more than June 2018 and 20.5% more than June 2017. Between January and June 2019, some 2.265 million tourist entries were recorded, as opposed to 2.063 million in the same period last year, an increase of 9.8%. Revenue from incoming tourism in June stood at NIS 1.9 million ($532,105) and, since the beginning of the year, at NIS 11.7 million ($3,276,760). Since Jan. 2019 incoming tourism from Spain has increased by 41% and from Portugal 38%, compared to the same period last year. June also saw significant increases in incoming tourism from China, Italy, Austria, Hungary, and South Korea. TRUMP DOUBLES OBAMA LEVEL OF CHRISTIAN REFUGEES WELCOMED IN USA: The Trump administration has ended the surge of Muslim refugees into the United States during the Obama era, significantly boosting the percentage of Christians accepted into the country. At the end of the Obama administration, not only were more refugees being let into the country, but the levels of Muslims and Christians were nearly level, 43% Muslim, 47% Christian. The year before, 44% were Christian to 46% Muslim. In the last year, according to State and Homeland Security data analyzed by the Migration Policy Institute, 16% were Muslim and 80% were Christian. TRUMP ‘WE ARE PROUDLY DEFENDING THE SANCTITY OF LIFE': Judicial appointments, abortion, criminal justice reform -- all issues of importance to many evangelicals were brought up last week by President Trump as he spoke to supporters at a conference in the nation's capital. Trump addressed a friendly, exuberant crowd at the Faith and Freedom Coalition's Road to Majority conference, noting what he says were promises made and kept to his evangelical voting base.  The biggest applause from the audience greeted his pro-life record. "We are proudly defending the sanctity of life," Trump said, followed by crowd chants of  "Four more years." "Every child born and unborn is made in the holy image of God and that is why I have asked Congress to prohibit the late-term abortion of babies and they'll do that," he said. Another positive response from the crowd is his impact not just on the Supreme Court, but lower courts, as well. "I will soon appoint my 145th judge to interpret the Constitution as written," the President said. (CBN)

SECOND ‘SON OF HAMAS’ DEFECTS, EXPOSES CORRUPTION: Suheib Yousef, son of the co-founder of Hamas, Hassan Yousef, last week exposed the terror's group underside and rampant corruption to an Israeli journalist. Suheib, fed up with the duplicity he was privy to at his senior position for Hamas in Turkey left the organization a month ago, fleeing to an unknown location in Asia. Suheib is the younger brother of the "Green Prince," Mosab Hassan Yousef, who worked undercover for the Shin Bet for ten years, preventing scores of suicide attacks and assassinations, and even providing information that led to the incarceration of his own father. Yousef, from the security of his hiding place in Asia, contacted the Palestinian affairs correspondent for Israel’s Channel 12, Ohad Hemo, to tell all.  Yousef said that Hamas gathers intelligence information in Turkey but it "isn’t for the Palestinian cause," but is sold "to Iran in return for financial assistance," adding that the money from Iran is transferred through Turkish banks. He explained that the Turkish branch of Hamas recruited people, including children to carry out terror attacks in Israel.

"The goal of the attacks in the West Bank [Judea & Samaria] is to kill civilians, not for resistance, or Jerusalem, or liberating Palestinian land and not even because they hate Jews. They send these innocent people because they want to export the crisis from Gaza to the West Bank [Judea & Samaria]. If Hamas gave up power, there would be no problems," he said, calling Hamas "a racist terrorist organization that is dangerous for the Palestinian people." Yousef also expressed anger and revulsion at the behavior of senior Hamas members in Turkey, who live in luxury at the expense of the Palestinian people. "Hamas senior officials live in fancy hotels and luxury buildings, their kids are in private schools. They're paid generously by Hamas, earning between $4,000 to $5,000 a month. They have security guards, swimming pools and country clubs. They eat in high-end restaurants, paying $200 for one course, while a family in Gaza lives on $100 a month. I want them to send their own children to carry out attacks," Yousef said. "Why doesn’t Ismail Haniyeh go to the fence to throw stones?" he said, referring to the weekly March of Return protests by the Gaza border fence organized by Hamas. (Arutz-7)

THINK TANKS PREDICTS ANOTHER MASS IMMIGRATION TO ISRAEL: A mass wave of immigrants to Israel is a very real possibility because of worsening anti-Semitism around the world, a Jerusalem-based think tank said in a new report last week. The "2019 Annual Assessment of the Situation and Dynamics of the Jewish People Today" was presented by the Jewish People Policy Institute (JPPI). “Many Jews are considering immigration to Israel or elsewhere, while others may give up their Jewish identity,” the scholars said. They warned that "the Israeli government must prepare appropriately for potential immigration, especially from European countries." (Israel Hayom)

FIRST ARTISTIC DEPICTION OF LITTLE KNOWN EXODUS STORY UNCOVERED IN GALILEE: Two new Technicolor biblical mosaics were recently uncovered at a 1,600-year-old synagogue in the Galilean town of Huqoq, joining a growing collection of art, announced UNC-Chapel Hill’s, Prof. Jodi Magness. The newly unearthed mosaics include the earliest known artistic rendering of the little-known Exodus story of Elim, and a partially preserved depiction of the Book of Daniel’s grotesque four beasts, which signal the end of time. The story of Elim largely overlooked in Jewish art until today occurs shortly after the Israelites fled Egypt, but prior to their long wander in the desert. Elim is described as an oasis, with 12 springs of water and 70 date palms. After a short stay in Marah (a place of bitter water made miraculously sweet), the Elim campsite would have offered a welcome respite. “We see clusters of dates being harvested by male agricultural workers wearing loincloths, who are sliding the dates down ropes held by other men. The middle register shows a row of wells alternating with date palms. On the left side of the panel, a man in a short tunic is carrying a water jar and entering the arched gate of a city flanked by crenelated towers,” she said. The identification of Elim in the depiction is confirmed with an inscription above the gate, which reads, “And they came to Elim.” The two new mosaics are part of a growing collection of dazzling sacred and secular art formed from tiny colorful stones that have been uncovered since 2012 by a team of archaeologists and volunteers. ISRAEL BANS SWEETS AND CHEWING GUM IN FORM OF CIGARETTES: The sale of candy and chewing gum in the form of cigarettes will be banned this week as part of the Prohibition on Advertising and Restriction of Marketing of Tobacco Products Law. "Cigarettes and sweets in the form of cigarettes have been marketed in Israel for decades, and have given dangerous cigarettes the status of a legitimate product," the Israel Cancer Association said. "Their sale will now be completely forbidden." The Association emphasized that its goal is "to prevent smoking and addiction among young people." Individuals violating the law will be fined NIS 75,300 ($21,071), while corporations will be fined NIS 150,600 ($42,142). Smoking kills someone every four seconds, and 165,000 children under five die each year due to secondhand smoke. One study by Joannie Lortet-Tieulent, of the American Cancer Society, Atlanta, showed that 28.6% of all cancer deaths in the USA in 2014 were attributable to smoking. (INN) Every step towards preventing tobacco consumption as a mark of being “cool” and accepted into the “in-crowd,” of teens and preteens is to be commended. Pray that every form of detriment that will lead to the end of this life-threatening addiction to cigarettes and tobacco will be put into place.
