IRAN REVEALS NEW MISSILE AND UNDERGROUND ‘CITY’: Iran's Revolutionary Guards inaugurated a surface-to-surface ballistic missile with a range of 1,000 km (621 miles), the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Thur. 7 Feb. 2019 - further ignoring Western demands that Tehran halt its missile program. Fars published pictures of an underground missile factory called "underground city," saying the "Dezful" missile was a version of the Zolfaghar missile that has a 700 km range and a 450 kg (992 lb) warhead. Iran says it has missiles with the range of up to 2,000 km, which puts Israel and USA military bases in the region within reach. The EU has stepped up criticism of Iran's ballistic missiles program, while the block remains committed to a 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and major powers. A 2015 UN resolution that enshrines the nuclear deal "called upon" Iran to refrain for up to eight years from work on ballistic missiles designed to deliver nuclear weapons. (J.Post)

IRAN BUILDS NEW SECRET MISSILE SITE IN SYRIA FOR HEZBOLLAH: Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah are establishing a missile factory on the outskirts of the Syrian town of Safita, Israel revealed on Thur. 7 Feb. 2019. Israel’s strategy, according to the report, is to make the efforts public to thwart the construction and success of the factory, which is supposed to be where Iran will turn Hezbollah’s missiles into precision-guided munitions, capable of striking targets in the Jewish state with unprecedented accuracy. The Israeli report claimed that a front organization named “Anas Group” was created to purchase materials from Italy, China and other Asian nations, and that the factory is currently run by Jamal Said, said to be a known figure in the field of missile production in the Middle East. Speaking in the UN in Sept. 2018, PM Benjamin Netanyahu pressured the international community to pay attention to Israel’s findings and inspect Iran’s movements in Syria. Netanyahu at the time revealed several sites in Beirut, where he said Hezbollah attempted to convert ground-to-ground missiles to precision missiles.

One of the sites, according to the prime minister, was inside a soccer stadium belonging to the Lebanese terrorist group, a second site in Hariri International Airport and a third 500 meters from the airport’s runway in the heart of a residential neighborhood.  “Israel knows what you’re doing, and Israel knows where you’re doing it,” he said. “What Iran hides, Israel will find.” In Dec. 2018, he said the sites had been closed as a result of Israel’s exposure of them at the UN. Hezbollah’s effort to build accurate and precise missiles, facilitated by Iranian expertise, funding, and guidance, has been targeted by Israel on numerous occasions in Syria – most recently late last year – when Israeli jets struck a military warehouse that held vehicles set to smuggle precision rocket converting systems from Syria to Lebanon. (J. Post) “They encourage each other in evil plans, they talk about hiding their snares; they say, ‘Who will see it?’ They plot injustice and say, ‘We have devised a perfect plan!’ Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.  But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down. He will turn their own tongues against them and bring them to ruin; all who see them will shake their heads in scorn.” Ps. 64: 5-7

USA: ISRAEL HAD THE RIGHT TO END THE MANDATE OF INTERNATIONAL OBSERVERS IN HEBRON: State Department Deputy Spokesperson Robert Palladino was asked on Thur. 7 Feb. 2019 why the USA blocked a statement at the UN Security Council on Israel's decision to end the mandate of international observers in Hebron. He replied: "The 1997 agreement on the temporary international presence in the city of Hebron clearly states that the consent of both the Israelis and the Palestinians is required in order to extend the mandate and presence of the TIPH. Furthermore, Oslo II and Hebron Protocol of 1997 also stated that the agreement from both sides was necessary for that to continue. Regardless of whether one agrees or disagrees with the Israeli decision not to renew, it would be inaccurate to accuse Israel of not having the right to make this decision under the agreement."  (State Department)

ISRAELI WATCHDOG TO FACEBOOK: REMOVE ABBAS' PARTY PAGE:  An Israeli watchdog group has submitted a request to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to close down Fatah’s official Facebook page. In a letter, sent to Zuckerberg on Thur. 7 Feb. 2019, Palestinian Media Watch (PMW) CEO Itamar Marcus and Head of Legal Strategies Maurice Hirsch claimed that Palestinian terrorists carried out terrorist attacks in 2018 “influenced by Fatah’s glorification of murder and its promotion of violence on its Facebook page. We strongly request that Facebook immediately close and delete Fatah’s Facebook page and ensure that no similar page is reopened,” the letter reads.  PMW penned the letter after completing a 45-page report that tracks Fatah’s Facebook page activity throughout the last year. The report shows how Fatah’s posts glorified mass murderers and other terrorists who were responsible for hundreds of murders that include not only citizens of Israel but Americans and other countries as well.  “These posts breached both Facebook’s Counter-terrorism Policy and Facebook’s Community Standards,” wrote PMW in its letter. It noted that Facebook standards state that the company does not allow any organizations or individuals that proclaim a violent mission or are engaged in violence to have a presence on Facebook. This includes organizations or individuals involved in terrorist activity, organized hate, mass or serial murder, human trafficking, or organized violence or criminal activity. “By repeatedly honoring terrorists through Facebook while the terror attack is still headline news, Fatah is sending the worst possible message to all Palestinians - that murdering Israelis is not only desirable, but is also the fastest path to honor and fame for the terrorist and his or her entire family,” said Marcus. A spokeswoman for Facebook said that “Praise and support for terrorism is not allowed on Facebook and we remove this type of content when it is reported to us.” (J.Post) Intercede that all entities and individuals who promote anti-Semitism, anti-Israel bias and glorify terrorism will be exposed and removed from Facebook and other social media giants.

TIBERIAS MAYOR: 'HAREDIM HEXED ME': Tiberias Mayor Ron Kobi days ago accused members of the local haredi community of performing a "pagan ritual" designed to place a curse on him. The mayor posted a video on Facebook showing haredi men surrounding the grave of his grandfather, the mayor Rabbi Machluf Kobi, claiming the worshipers had performed a pagan ritual of pulsa d'nura.  "Pagan incitement in the pulsa d'nura style," Ron Kobi said opening his Facebook post. He continued: "The haredim of Tiberias, headed by a city councilman, are involved in a strange ceremony of prayers and lamentations on the grave of my grandfather Chacham Makhluf Kobi. 'What do they want?' you ask," said Kobi. "They want Tiberias to return to being dark and black, closed and locked on Saturdays and holidays. The members of the Tiberias council simply go against the public!" Later, the haredi worshipers explained they had gone to the grave of Mayor Ron Kobi's late grandfather, "who was a scholar and a righteous man", to pray that his grandson "repent". The pulsa d'nura ("fire whip") is the name of a ritual ceremony with supposed kabalistic roots, used on occasion in Israel to call for the downfall of prominent public figures. (Arutz-7)

20 SWASTIKAS DISCOVERED DEFACING MURAL AT SYDNEY'S FAMED BONDI BEACH: Police have called for witnesses to help find the perpetrators of the "repulsive, racist, anti-Semitic and wholly un-Australian act." Twenty swastikas were painted at Sydney's Bondi Beach on Sunday, 10 Feb. 2019. Local police are investigating the incident and have appealed for witnesses to come forward. "Outrageous!" called out the Australian Jewish Association on Twitter, reporting the murals at the Bondi Beach now bearing "numerous swastikas." Vic Alhadeff, CEO of the New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies, condemned the graffiti saying, "The Jewish community is appalled at this expression of blatant racism. The swastika represents the ultimate in race hatred and all Australians of goodwill will stand together in condemning this shocking display.” Waverly Mayor John Wakefield said, "This is a disgraceful act and Waverley Council, and the community of Waverley stands against anti-Semitism and racially motivated crime. Racism has no place in our culturally diverse community and we condemn last night’s incident in the strongest terms." (J.Post)

ISRAELI TECHNOLOGY COMES TO THE RESCUE IN BRAZIL: Brazil will receive 10 generators that use Israeli technology to produce pure, clean-drinking water from ambient air, according to Brazilian Minister of Science, Marcos Cesar Pontes. The revelation came to light last week when Pontes was in Israel as part of Brazil’s mission to this year’s Cybertech conference in Tel Aviv. During his visit, Pontes visited Watergen’s headquarters where he seized the opportunity to taste the fresh water produced by the GEN-350. Pontes also took time to meet with Watergen’s president, Dr. Michael Mirilashvili, who is the visionary behind the organization’s goal to make clean and safe drinking water available to every human being around the world. Each of the ten units is a GEN-350 atmospheric water generator, a technological innovation of the Israel-based company of Watergen. A single GEN-350 can produce up to 900 liters of water per day. According to the Brazilian minister, the GEN-350s will be installed in schools and hospitals throughout the country, particularly in areas where there is a lack of safe drinking water. The technology used by the GEN-350 has also come to the rescue of people all over the world who have faced ecological and environmental disasters. Watergen’s efforts to make clean water available around the world earned the company its place on the World Economic Forum’s list of the world’s top technology pioneers in 2018. ISRAELIS ARE TOP USERS OF SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE WORLD: Some 77% of adults in Israel use social media, putting the country 1 percentage point ahead of South Korea, according to a Pew Research Center survey released last week. The United States was sixth at 70%.  At the same time, Israel ranks second in smartphone ownership, with 88% of its adults owning smartphones. S. Korea was first with 95% of adults owning a smartphone and the USA sixth again at 81%. The two categories are related, according to Pew, because social networking sites can be accessed via smartphones, and smartphone owners are more likely to access social networking sites than those who own a basic phone or none at all. Among Israelis, smartphone ownership is on the rise for the over-50 set: 80% as compared to 50% in 2015. (JTA)
