IDF LAUNCHES “OPERATION NORTHERN SHIELD” TO DESTROY HEZBOLLAH TERRORIST TUNNELS: The IDF launched Operation "Northern Shield" overnight Mon. 3 Dec. 2018 to thwart and neutralize cross-border attack tunnels dug by the Hezbollah terror organization from Lebanon into Israel. Since 2014, a special joint Taskforce of the Intelligence Directorate and the Northern Command has been leading the operational, technological and intelligence efforts on the tunnel issue in the North. The team developed vast abilities and knowledge on Hezbollah’s attack tunnel project. This IDF operation is led by the Northern Command and its purpose is to thwart and neutralize the cross-border attack tunnels within Israeli territory. For a number of years, the IDF General Staff has been leading this effort, which recently reached the necessary operational conditions, in which significant forces are participating. “The Hezbollah terror organization, which is responsible for digging the cross-border attack tunnels, continues its activity that is supported and funded by Iran, to establish its terror infrastructure against Israeli civilians.” said the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit. The statement noted that the IDF has enhanced its presence and readiness in the Northern Command and is prepared for various scenarios. A number of areas adjacent to the security fence in the north of Israel have been declared a closed military zone. (Arutz-7) Intercede for the security of Israel’s northern front. Pray that the latest IDF military operation to find and destroy Hezbollah attack tunnels will not result in a backlash of war with this Iran-backed terror group.

WHITE HOUSE, RUSSIA, GERMANY AND BRITAIN STRONGLY SUPPORT ISRAEL'S ACTION AGAINST HEZBOLLAH TUNNELS: The White House gave full backing Tues. 4 Dec. 2018 to an Israeli army operation to destroy tunnels built under the border with Lebanon by Hezbollah. National Security Adviser John Bolton said "the USA strongly supports Israel's efforts to defend its sovereignty. More broadly, we call on Iran and all of its agents to stop their regional aggression and provocation, which pose an unacceptable threat to Israeli and regional security.” Likewise, Russia, Germany and Britain issued statements supporting Israel’s operation to demolish cross-border tunnels from Lebanon. "There’s no doubt that Israel has the right to protect its national security, including preventing the illegal entry of anyone into the country," Russia's Embassy in Israel tweeted. Israeli security analysts believe that the decision to expose the Hezbollah attack tunnels is a precursor to a larger Israeli operation to remove the threat posed by precision missiles being developed with Iran. HELP VFI TO PREPARE FOR EMERGENCY CRISIS SITUATIONS: Israel’s increasing, highly-charged attack threats from Iranian-backed terrorist groups on both the southern and northern fronts could at any moment develop into war. VFI as well as the entire nation must be equipped for this possible crisis with emergency measures and supplies. Please help us to prepare with a financial gift at www.visionforisrael.com. ARMY CLAIMS HEZBOLLAH AIMED TO USE TUNNELS TO CUT OFF METULLA, LAUNCH WAR: The Hezbollah attack tunnels crossing into Israeli territory from Lebanon that Israel has begun to uncover were to be used by the Iran-backed terror group for a surprise attack to kick off a future war, an IDF source said on Wed. 5 Dec. 2018. The army believes the tunnel uncovered the previous day was meant to let in Hezbollah fighters who would cut off the Israeli town of Metulla, which lies directly along the border with Lebanon, said the senior officer in the military’s Northern Command. The idea was to cut off Metulla from the south, including by blocking the main entry road, Route 90. The officer, citing military assessments, said Hezbollah planned to use the tunnels as part of a wider operation to conquer parts of the panhandle in Israel’s Galilee in a future conflict. On Tue. 4 Dec. 2018, PM Benjamin Netanyahu made a similar claim, saying the tunnels were part of a wider effort to “inflict great damage” to Israel and Israeli citizens. “Capturing parts of the Galilee by Hezbollah is a concrete threat,” he said. “It is also part of a regional and global terror effort led by Iran.” The one tunnel the army has uncovered so far reached 130 feet into Israeli territory outside Metulla, and was six feet tall by six feet wide. IRAN TEST-FIRES MISSILE CAPABLE OF CARRYING MULTIPLE WARHEADS, POMPEO SAYS: Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said days ago that Iran's government had just test-fired a medium-range missile "that is capable of carrying multiple warheads." The missile tested has the ability to hit parts of Europe and any location in the Middle East. Pompeo said the test violated a UN Security Council resolution that called on Iran to not pursue "any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology. We condemn this act and call upon Iran to cease these activities." (NBC) Iran has never indicated that it intends to respond to any nation’s call to cease its destructive military tests, activities or goals. Pray for the wisdom and strategy of world leaders to know how to effectively thwart and bring to an end to Iran’s willful military progress and dangerous ambitions.

IRANIAN AIRLINE NOW FERRYING WEAPONS DIRECTLY TO BEIRUT: An Iranian cargo plane transporting advanced weaponry to the Hezbollah terror group was spotted earlier this week, flying directly from Tehran to Beirut. Israeli and American security officials have long claimed that Iran has been supplying Lebanon’s Hezbollah with advanced munitions by shipping them through ostensibly civilian airlines, including the one that recently flew into Lebanon. Western intelligence sources said the airplane carried components for manufacturing precise weapons in Iranian factories inside Lebanon. The USA and Israel, as well as other western intelligence agencies, have supplied evidence that Iran has operated weapons factories in Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. The Iranian-backed, Hezbollah terror organization has been building factories in the heart of Beirut to convert missiles into highly-accurate precision weapons capable of striking sensitive Israeli sites. Upon deciding to convert its massive 150,000-strong rocket arsenal to missiles with pinpoint accuracy, Hezbollah chose to transfer its sites to the heart of Beirut in order to deter Israeli airstrikes. Israel has repeatedly reiterated that it will not allow Hezbollah to obtain highly accurate missiles that would threaten sensitive Israeli sites and has been escalating its threats vis a vis Lebanon. Hezbollah currently possesses over 150,000 thousand missiles, more than most NATO countries. Senior defense officials have said repeatedly that Hezbollah is now Israel's major threat and predict that hundreds of Israelis will die in the next war between the two sides. (INN/Times of Israel)

IRAN’S SHIFT OF TACTICS ENDANGERS ISRAEL: Israel considers the joint Iran- Hezbollah project to make Hezbollah’s missile arsenal precision-guided to be a strategic threat, which will make Israel more vulnerable in the next conflict. Precision missiles will allow Hezbollah to interfere with Israeli air-force activities, target major infrastructures and population centers, and cause Israel considerable damage. Israel's Security Cabinet has deemed the precision project a "red line" for Israel and grounds for war. Thwarting the project at almost any cost has been made a top priority. The Iranians are changing their tactics. They are no longer flying supplies into Damascus and transporting them over land to Beirut. From now on, their Boeings will land in Beirut on direct flights from Tehran. (Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs)

RASHIDA TLAIB, NEWLY ELECTED DEMOCRAT, ENDORSES ANTI-ISRAEL BDS MOVEMENT: Rep.-elect Rashida Tlaib this week came out for the first time in full support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel. Tlaib, who last month became one of the first two Muslim congresswomen and the first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress, told media sources that she supports punishing Israel economically in order to bring attention to “issues like the [so-called] racism and the international human rights violations by Israel.” Her endorsement of the BDS movement comes shortly after Rep.-elect Ilhan Omar, the other first Muslim congresswoman, faced criticism for supporting the movement. They are the only two members of Congress to publicly support BDS. (Washington Times)

HANUKKAH CANDLES LIT IN POLISH PARLIAMENT: Hanukkah candles were lit in the Polish parliament on Wed. 5 Dec. 2018 the fourth eve of Hanukkah. In attendance were senior Polish government officials. Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi David Lau lit the menorah beside Chabad Rabbi of Warsaw Shalom Stambler. For Israel’s Chief Rabbi, this event constituted a closing of circles. His father and predecessor former Chief Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, was born in Piotrków Trybunalski in 1937. During World War II, Lau’s parents and brother perished alongside the majority of Polish Jewry, while he and another brother were deported to a labor camp in Czestochowa in southern Poland, and from there to Buchenwald. There, a Russian soldier took the boy under his wing and saved his life. Rabbi Lau said: “For me, this constitutes a closing of circles. Most of my family perished on this country’s soil, but today I am illuminating the darkness with these Hanukkah candles and thus perpetuating our glowing Jewish heritage.” Rabbi Shalom Stambler, Chabad rabbi in Poland who has orchestrated the candle lighting ceremony for the past 13 years, added: “Specifically in a country as Poland, there is great significance to lighting Hanukkah candles here in Parliament. Whereas all of Europe is afflicted with anti-Semitism, there is great significance when senior government officials and rabbis perform this ceremony together and garner nationwide approval.” (Arutz-7)
