Visiting Soroka Medical Centre

During Operation Protective Edge, Vision for Israel donated a hospital bed to the ICU at the Soroka Medical Centre. Last week we got to visit the hospital and see the bed in action.

One of the greatest benefits of the bed is that it prevents a common complication that unconscious patients suffer from: pressure sores. The bed enables the position of the patient to change every few hours, which prevents sores from forming. This is a very unique bed with many different features, such as a secure sidewall and built-in controls. The angle of the backrest, knee rest, and bed height can all be adjusted electronically. The bed even has a resuscitation button, a backup battery, and a pull-out linen drawer. Thanks to the bed, the patients do not suffer from pressure sores, and we are happy that we can ease their pain.
