Family Hanukkah Celebration for New Immigrants
Recently, an absorption centre in the south of Israel received 22 families who were new immigrants. These families finished their journey from Ethiopia to Israel, and now they are beginning a new journey—being absorbed into the Israeli culture. For them, this is a dream come true after years of waiting in Ethiopia. The absorption centre is welcoming the immigrants by directing them with the help of a professional team. Along with the families came 63 children who are making their way into the Israeli education system. For many of them, it is the first time that they get to study in an organized fashion in school. To help them start school on the right foot, Vision for Israel donated a backpack for each child—and since it was Hanukkah, Vision for Israel also sponsored a special visit by a clown to cheer them up.
We wish these families and children an easy adjustment to life in Israel and much success in their new lives here.
