JOHN KERRY THINKS HE’S STILL ON DUTY REGARDING IRANIAN DEAL: John Kerry’s bid to save one of his most significant accomplishments as secretary of state, just two weeks ago, took him to New York where, more than a year after he left office, he engaged in some unusual shadow diplomacy with a top-ranking Iranian official. He sat down at the UN with Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to discuss ways of preserving the pact limiting Iran’s nuclear weapons program. It was the second time in about two months that the two had met to strategize over salvaging a deal they spent years negotiating during the Obama administration. With the Iran deal facing its gravest threat since it was signed in 2015, Kerry has been on an aggressive yet stealthy mission to preserve it, using his deep lists of contacts gleaned during his time as the top USA diplomat to apply pressure on the Trump administration from the outside.

President Trump, who has consistently criticized the pact and campaigned in 2016 on scuttling it, faces a 12 May 2018, deadline to decide whether to continue abiding by its terms. Kerry also met last month with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and he’s been on the phone with top EU official Federica Mogherini. Kerry has also met with French President Emmanuel Macron in both Paris and New York, conversing over the details of sanctions and regional nuclear threats in both French and English. Does this not place Kerry in violation of federal law? The Logan Act forbids unauthorized people to engage in negotiations with foreign governments that are involved in disputes with the United States. The Logan Act’s intention is to prevent unauthorized negotiations from undermining the position of the USA government. Isn’t that exactly what Kerry is doing? Shouldn’t he be arrested and prosecuted? (Jihad Watch) At least bring out the duct tape or a muzzle! Please pray that John Kerry with be prevented from further meddling and scuttling about trying to salvage the Iranian deal - one of the worst global pacts ever made, thanks to him and the Obama administration.

TRUMP: WHO SIGNS A DEAL WHEN THEY’RE SHOUTING ‘DEATH TO AMERICA’? Speaking at the NRA convention in Dallas Texas Friday night, 4 May 2018, USA Donald Trump argued against the Iran deal made by the previous administration by arguing that the deal should not have been made as long as Iranians are shouting “Death to America.” Trump also argued that John Kerry is “not the best negotiator we’ve ever seen.” When addressing the crowd the USA President said: “You know what gets you nuclear war? Weakness gets you nuclear war.” While discussing gun laws Trump made the comparison between banning guns and banning cars because terrorists use them to attack civilians. (Arutz-7)

NEW USA AMBASSADOR TO GERMANY CALLS ON COMPANIES TO END IRAN TRADE: Richard Grenell, the newly confirmed USA ambassador to Germany, said in a media interview on Thurs. 3 April, 2018 that German companies should stop trade with the Islamic Republic. Grenell, a seasoned foreign policy expert, said Iran is a "state-sponsor of terrorism, they spend billions of dollars to spread terrorism around the world. Why would a country want to do business with them? So I think it is going to be incumbent on me to explain to German businesses that they do not want to do business inside of Iran. It is just not right.” He also slammed Iran for destabilizing Syria. Grenell, who was sworn in as ambassador to Germany on 3 May, 2018, is a sharp critic of Iran's nuclear program and a strong supporter of the Jewish state. (J.Post)

GAZA RIOTERS SET FIRE TO BORDER CROSSING: Dozens of rioters on Friday evening 4 May 2018 set fire to the Palestinian Arab side of the Kerem Shalom crossing between Israel and Gaza. The IDF said the rioters damaged the gas and fuel pipelines that run from Israel to Gaza and are intended for use by Gazan residents. The incident is part of the continued riots by Gazans along the border. Some 7,000 Arabs rioted throughout the day on Friday, burning tires and hurling rocks at the security fence and IDF troops. The rioters flew kites with burning items, intending to ignite fires in Israel. In addition, said the IDF, rioters hurled an explosive device at IDF troops who responded with riot dispersal means and fire in accordance with the rules of engagement. IDF sources said that "During the violent riots, which are led by Hamas, various fake injuries have been documented, as well as abuse of women and children. All of these are intended to buffer Hamas' terror activities, which include throwing explosives, grenades, and attempting infiltration into Israel, and to make it more difficult for the IDF to act in defense. Meanwhile, Hamas puts up this false display, and lies to the international community. The IDF will continue to defend and secure Israel's citizens and sovereignty.” (Arutz-7)

‘KITE TERRORISM’ MASSIVE FIRE AFTER KITE WITH MOLOTOV COCKTAIL ATTACHED SENT FROM GAZA EXPLODES: Ten firefighters gained control of a fire last week that destroyed 350 dunams of land near Kibbutz Be'eri near the Gaza border. According to the local regional councils, a kite connected to a Molotov cocktail that was sent from the Gaza sparked the blaze. Multiple firefighting teams were dispatched to the area, and local councils say that the fire caused 175,000 shekels of damage. IDF commander of the western Negev region, Lieutenant Colonel Yaakov Gabbay, said that "a huge expanse, hundreds of dunams if not thousands," were burned. In recent weeks, Palestinians have flown kites as part of demonstrations at the Gaza-Israel border. "We demand the IDF put an end to this violence that already caused and continues to cause severe economic damage, but also threatens human life. It is not superfluous to remind Palestinian rights organizations that stone throwing and burning fields is also violence," a spokesman from the Negev regional council said. HEZBOLLAH, ALLIES EYE GAINS IN LEBANON VOTE: The Lebanese Shi'ite group Hezbollah and its allies expect to emerge stronger from a parliamentary election on 6 May, 2018, a result that would affirm Iran's regional ascendancy from Tehran to Beirut. The Western-backed PM Saad al-Hariri, Lebanon's leading Sunni, is meanwhile battling to limit losses he is expected to suffer in the first parliamentary election in nine years. A majority for the Iran-backed Hezbollah and its allies would underline a balance of power already tilted in favor of the heavily armed Shi'ite group, and the diminished role of Saudi Arabia in a country where it once held big sway. Classified as a terrorist group by the United States, Hezbollah is an arch foe of Israel which is deeply alarmed by Iran's growing influence in the region, including Syria where Hezbollah has been fighting since 2012. The Lebanon vote is to be followed on 12 May by an Iraqi election that is also set to underline Iran's reach, with one of three pro-Tehran Shi'ite leaders set to become prime minister. An anti-Hezbollah alliance led by Hariri and backed by Saudi Arabia won a majority in parliament in 2009. But it has since disintegrated and Saudi Arabia has turned its focus to confronting Iran elsewhere. A parliament heavily tilted towards Hezbollah will cause concern in Western countries, most notably in Israel and also the USA which arms and trains the Lebanese army. (J.Post)

IOWA PASSES ‘FETAL HEARTBEAT’ ABORTION BAN, MOST RESTRICTIVE IN USA: Iowa’s Republican-controlled legislature passed the most restrictive abortion ban in the United States last week outlawing the procedure after a fetal heartbeat is detected, often at six weeks. The Senate voted 29-17 to pass the House of Representatives-approved bill. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed the state Heartbeat Bill into law on 5 May 2018 legally protecting unborn babies in Iowa whose beating hearts can be detected. The legislation is aimed at triggering a challenge to Roe v. Wade, the USA Supreme Court’s 1973 landmark decision which established that women have a constitutional right to an abortion. Abortion opponents aim to land abortion questions back in front of the nation’s top court, where they believe the 5-4 conservative majority could sharply curtail abortion access or ban it outright. Mississippi’s Republican governor in March 2018 signed into law a bill banning abortion after 15 weeks, sparking an immediate court challenge by abortion rights advocates. A similar court challenge is underway in Kentucky, which in April 2018 enacted a ban on a common abortion procedure from the 11th week of pregnancy. The newest Iowa bill, requires any woman seeking an abortion to undergo an abdominal ultrasound to screen for a fetal heartbeat. If one is detected, healthcare providers are barred from performing an abortion.
