“Yet I have chosen Jerusalem, that My name may be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel,” 2 Chr. 6:6
UN AMBASSADORS VISIT CITY OF DAVID: Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon, this week, led nine of his fellow UN ambassadors on a tour of Jerusalem’s City of David. The delegation was guided by Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat. The City of David is the site of the Biblical city of Jerusalem during the First Temple period and the reigns of the Israelite Kings David and Solomon “To defeat the lies spread about our capital city at the UN, nothing is more important than for my fellow ambassadors to learn the truth about Jerusalem and see the beauty of this city first-hand,” said Ambassador Danon. “The more UN ambassadors visit Israel, the more they appreciate both the challenges we face and the opportunities that exist in our region. This is why I have visited Israel with over thirty UN ambassadors over the past year alone and will bring more in the months to come,” he continued. During the tour, Mayor Barkat showed the ambassadors the remains of the Shiloah Pool and numerous archaeological findings from the City of David, which unambiguously link the Jewish people to Jerusalem. These findings strongly contradict claims that deny the historical connection between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel. (Arutz-7)

ISRAELI POLITICIANS TEAR INTO UNESCO JERUSALEM VOTE: Twenty two countries voted in favor of a UNESCO decision labeling Israel an "occupying power" in Jerusalem and criticizing archaeological excavations in the city on Tues. 4 July 2017. Israeli leaders were quick to condemn the decision “: Nothing is more disgraceful than UNESCO declaring the world’s only Jewish state the ‘occupier’ of the Western Wall and Jerusalem’s Old City," said Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon. “Yesterday, I toured the City of David and the Old City with UN ambassadors from around the world and explained the deep and ancient connection between the Jewish people and the holiest sites of our nation. No faux ‘heritage committee’ can sever the bonds between our people and Jerusalem,” Danon said. Israeli Education Minister Naftali Bennett stated that "UNESCO's repeated fake claims do not change the Jewish connection to Jerusalem or reality on the ground.” He said that “instead of protecting hundreds of sites destroyed by radical Islam, UNESCO is acting against the only middle-eastern country safeguarding all holy sites and granting worshipers religious freedom." UNESCO has additionally lobbied to have the Cave of the Patriarchs, one of the holiest sites in Judaism located in Hebron, labeled as exclusively Muslim. (J.Post) Pray according to scripture as UN organizations and anti-Israel NGOs repeatedly try to undermine the legitimacy of the Jewish state and its sovereignty over its capital city Jerusalem and other important biblical sites: “For Zion’s sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem’s sake I will not remain quiet, till her vindication shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch. The nations will see your vindication, and all kings your glory; you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow,” Isa. 62: 1-2
USA TO UNESCO: THE PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY LIES: USA Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley this week sent a letter to UNESCO Secretary General Irina Bokova in which she stated that the Palestinian Authority was lying when it said that the Cave of the Patriarchs, one of the holiest sites in Judaism, was in danger of being destroyed by Israel. She noted that there are other heritage sites in the Congo, Iraq, Libya and Syria which are under immediate threat and about which nothing has been done so far.” Israel's ambassador to UNESCO, Carmel Shama Hacohen, said in response that "Nikki Haley's letter speaks for itself about the absurdity of the persecution of the Jewish state in every international arena, especially in UNESCO. UNESCO EXPERTS: PA HEBRON HERITAGE REQUEST EXCLUDES JUDEA-CHRISTIAN HERITAGE: The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) reported to UNESCO that the Palestinian request to list Hebron's Old Town and the Cave of the Patriarchs on the "World Heritage in Danger" list as part of the "State of Palestine" has overly focused on Hebron's Muslim history to the exclusion of the Judeo-Christian heritage. The PA proposal only focused on Hebron from the Mamluk period of 1250 and onward. "This excludes the extremely important time depth of Hebron, a town whose history can be extended back at least a thousand years before the Mamluk period and possibly much longer," ICOMOS said. "The emphasis of the nomination is on a small period of that history apart from the earlier structures of the Al-Ibrahimi Mosque/The Cave of Patriarchs. This means that the association of Hebron with Jewish and early Christian societies is given little recognition. ICOMOS also rejected the Palestinians' 2012 proposal to put Bethlehem's Church of the Nativity and 2014 request to place the ancient agricultural Terraces of Battir on the list. UNESCO's World Heritage Committee overlooked those recommendations, however, and approved the requests (J. Post)
NATIONAL IDENTITY THEFT AT UNESCO: In the ancient city of Hebron stands a colossal, 2,000-year-old burial monument built by the Jewish king Herod the Great atop the 3,800-year-old tombs of Abraham, his wife Sarah, and most of the founding family of the Jewish People. The last person to be buried there was the Jewish forefather Jacob, also known as Israel. It is known as the Tomb of the Patriarchs or the Cave of Machpela in Hebron, which the PA has audaciously tried to claim as its own at UNESCO. The Book of Genesis records Abraham's negotiation and purchase of the Machpela caveIn 1267 AD, the Mamluks, a Muslim military caste from Egypt, captured Hebron and the Tomb of the Patriarchs and rebranded it the Mosque of Ibrahim. They imposed a jihadist policy of banning
in Hebron for a family burial plot. Archaeological remains attest to Jewish life in Hebron during the First and Second Temple periods. Throughout the Middle Ages, Jewish and Christian travelers noted the presence of a Jewish community living in Hebron and worshiping at the Tomb of the Patriarchs.Jews,
Christians and all non-Muslims from entering the building. Yet even under Mamluk rule, Jews stubbornly held prayer services at the outside wall of the building for the next 700 years. So things went until 1929 when a horrific pogrom ended in the murder of 67 Jews. In the Six-Day War, Israel regained control of Hebron and the tombs, and Jews flocked to the site. Since then, freedom of access and worship for all faiths has been ensured at the Tomb of the Patriarchs, while 700,000 tourists visit the site yearly. If the UN and UNESCO cannot uphold the values and principles necessary to protect world cultures and heritage sites, let its validity be brought to question - not that of the Jewish People. (J. Post)
ANNUAL LIGHT SHOW OUTSHINES UNESCO’S LATEST ISRAEL-BASHING RESOLUTION: Maybe the thousands of Israelis who walked the streets of Jerusalem’s Old City Tues. evening, 4 July 2017, didn’t get the memo – UNESCO’s latest resolution declaring Jews imposters – occupiers of the Old City – who don’t belong there. UNESCO has described Jewish holy sites, such as the Temple Mount and Western Wall, as “so called,” and ancient Jewish graves near the Temple Mount as “fake,” referring to the site by its Islamic name – al-Aksa Mosque. Because of UNESCO’s reputation for Israel bashing, many perceive its decisions as out of touch with reality, not only biblicaly but also in their lives today, as evidenced by the wall-to-wall crowds enjoying the annual light show in Jerusalem’s Old City. Every year Israeli families from around the country flock to Or Yerushalyim (Jerusalem Light Festival), a week-long celebration that literally lights up the Old City walls and the sky above. Many may have seen UNESCO’s announcement on their cellphones Tues. evening – in between snapping selfies and videos – as they walked along the narrow streets, moms pushing strollers and dads hoisting kids to their shoulders for a better view. There are lots of interactive displays for kids of all ages. One featured fountains bubbling up around beams of white light - a welcome refreshment on a sultry night – and others that delighted young and old alike. (Kehila News)
