NETANYAHU: ISRAEL WON’T TOLERATE IRANIAN BASES IN LEBANON, SYRIA: PM Benjamin Netanyahu said this week that Israel opposes the USA-Russian-brokered cease-fire in Syria because it perpetuates Iran’s military presence in the country. He told French President Emmanuel Macron that Iran wants to establish air, land and sea bases in Lebanon, something Jerusalem cannot tolerate. He warned that in addition to Hezbollah’s presence in Lebanon, the Hamas terrorist group is also attempting to gain a foothold there. The Israeli leader asked France – which has a close relationship with Lebanon – to use its influence there to work against efforts to turn the country into a base for more terrorist organizations. Netanyahu said he also raised the issue of Iran’s efforts to establish a permanent base in Syria, saying he was opposed to the agreement reached earlier this month between Russia and the USA regarding a cease-fire in Syria because, while it removes Iranian forces 20 kilometers from Israel’s border, it perpetuates Iran’s military presence in the country. Jerusalem maintains that Iran is keen on establishing ground and air bases there, something that could radically change the situation in the region. He said that Israel would oppose any agreement in Syria that enables a permanent Iranian military presence there. (J.Post)

WHITE HOUSE: TRUMP SHARES ISRAEL’S GOAL TO PREVENT IRANIAN RUSH THROUGH SYRIA: Netanyahu seemed to question that commitment over the weekend in Paris, outlining to reporters his opposition to a ceasefire agreement negotiated among Russia, Jordan and the USA holding in southwestern Syria since 11 July 2017. Israel fears the agreement grants Tehran de facto freedom of movement in a region close to its border. It was a rare rebuke of Trump from Netanyahu, who considers the new president a strategic ally. "Both governments – the United States and Israel – are rightly concerned about Iran’s malign influence in the region," said a White House official. "A core goal of USA policy in Syria is to ensure that no vacuum is created which Iran can fill." Israeli diplomatic sources said that Iran is working to establish air, land and sea bases in Lebanon – a development which Jerusalem cannot tolerate. Their designs extend into southern Syria. Jerusalem maintains that Iran is not only interested in sending military advisers to Syria, but also is keen on establishing ground and air bases there, something that could radically change the situation in the region. He said that Israel would oppose any agreement in Syria that enables Iranian backed Hezbollah presence there. (J.Post) How vital is the need for ongoing prayer that the Syrian crisis with so many dangerous political factors vying for a stronghold in the Middle East - and on Israel’s northern borders – will be contained and brought under control. Intercede against the establishment of a permanent Iranian presence in Syria and Lebanon.

TO UNDERCUT IRAN, RUSSIANS PRESSURE ASSAD TO CUT SYRIA’S LONGTIME TIES TO HEZBOLLAH: The Lebanese terrorist organization Hezbollah and the Syrian government have engaged in a close relationship for nearly 40 years. But six years into the Syrian civil war, there are signs that diverging strategic visions are fraying their alliance. Syrian President Bashar Assad is coming under increasing pressure from pro-Russian factions in his ruling circle to dump pro-Iranian Hezbollah, as a USA-Russia accord to establish a de-escalation zone in southern Syria gets underway this week. Command and control functions over Hezbollah fighters in Syria are directed by an officer corps drawn from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. “Hezbollah operates in Syria simply as an Iranian pawn,” said Hilal Khashan, a professor of political science at the University of Beirut. “It uses Hezbollah as part of its scheme to establish a ground corridor from Iran to Lebanon. This is not something that sits well with the Russians, who are keen on limiting Tehran’s preponderance. (Washington Post)

PREPARE THE WORLD FOR HEZBOLLAH’S NEXT WAR: Hezbollah is Iran’s proxy, designated as a terrorist organization by the USA, the EU, the Arab League, Israel, Canada, Australia and others. The very reason for Hezbollah’s existence is to give Iran – an apocalyptic radical Islamic regime – a way to directly attack Israel, something its leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, believes is “obligatory and necessary for Muslims.” Iran invests around $100 million a year in Hezbollah, which has enabled it to become the dominant political and military force in Lebanon with a sophisticated militia that more closely resembles a national army than a terrorist organization. It has an estimated 150,000 rockets, which is significantly more than all 29 NATO countries combined, with the exception of the USA. To believe that Iran would not use this “investment” to its full potential is simply not realistic. While Iran has mobilized Hezbollah to prop up its client Bashar Assad in Syria, the original and main purpose has always been to use it as a weapon against the Jewish state. Although there have already been several military conflicts between Israel and Hezbollah, the next one is predicted to become tremendously more devastating because of Hezbollah’s military advancements. ISRAEL MAY NEED TO TAKE OUT IRANIAN BASES IN SYRIA: Israel may need to take military action to prevent Iran or Hezbollah from setting up permanent bases in Syria, former National Security Council head Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yaakov Amides said this week. If Israel's interests are not taken into account by those determining the future arrangements in Syria, "that might lead the IDF to intervene and destroy every attempt to build permanent Iranian infrastructure in Syria," he said. "At the end of the day it is our responsibility, not the responsibility of the Americans, or the Russians, to guarantee ourselves, and we will take all the measures that are needed for that." Iran is implementing a strategy that for the first time in modern history places them on the cusp of establishing a land corridor from Tehran to the Mediterranean. "The ability of the Iranians to do what they are doing now in Syria and Iraq is all built on the legitimacy they gained from this nuclear agreement. The agreement is the source of all the problems. It is even more dangerous than we imagined." (J Post)

HAMAS AND ISLAMIC JIHAD THREATEN ‘ESCALATION OF THE INTIFADA’ OVER TEMPLE MOUNT: Palestinian terrorists groups Hamas and the Islamic Jihad called for an escalation in violence amid new Israeli security measures on the Temple Mount. The two groups said that Israeli-installed metal detectors on the Temple Mount -- home to the Al-Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock -- were a red line and intolerable. The metal detectors were placed outside the Temple Mount's nine gates following a terror attack on Friday 14 July 2017, where three Israeli-Arabs killed two Israeli police officers at the holy site. (Worthy News) Tensions in Jerusalem’s Old City and especially in the Temple Mount area are dangerously close to a major explosion. Palestinians refuse stiff security measures, but when Israel backs down on tight precautions Muslims, Jews and tourists have been left vulnerable to, and victims of, murderous terrorist attacks. Please intercede for the peace of Jerusalem.

ANTI-SEMITIC CRIME ROSE 44% IN BRITAIN SINCE 2014, AUDIT FINDS: Anti-Semitic attacks in UK rose 44% since 2014, according to a 2016 audit from the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism One in 10 of an overall 1,078 anti-Semitic crimes were violent, but only one such attack was prosecuted in the past year. In addition, police prosecuted just 15 cases - 1.4% - of overall anti-Semitic crime during that period, according to the group’s 2016 National Antisemitic Crime Audit. Using crime data gathered from UK police forces the group found that the total rate of hate crimes against Jews rose roughly 15% in the past year and nearly three times that since 2014. The group emphasized that the numbers depicted the “worst year on record.” The report highlighted an enforcement failure of UK authorities, calling police conduct a “betrayal” against the country’s Jews. The report made the same recommendations to law enforcement as it did last year, saying their proposals had not been implemented despite promises from UK authorities. Anti-Semitic crime has already been a factor in the initial months of 2017, with incidents including the firebombing of kosher restaurants in Manchester, a man stopped by police after chasing Jews in London brandishing a meat cleaver and machete and police closing down London streets to make way for a major pro-Hezbollah march. TEN ANCIENT JUGS PREDATING  Ten ancient jugs unearthed at the Judea & Samaria site of the ancient city of Shiloh could lead researchers to new discoveries about the Jewish tabernacle that existed there before the First Temple was built in Jerusalem. The jugs, only some of which were broken, date to the time when the Jewish people first entered the land of Israel. The Bible attributes the tabernacle at Shiloh to the time of the high priest Eli and the prophet Samuel. The newly discovered jugs indicate that in ancient times, the area was vacated abruptly, with residents not having enough time to collect and pack up their belongings. Hanina Hizami, coordination officer for archaeology at the Civil Administration, said, “This is a very exciting find. The destruction could have been caused by the Philistine invasion and the fire that raged at Shiloh.” (Algemeiner) Scripture says of Israel that God’s people take pleasure in her very stones and favor even the dust (Ps 102:15). Such words are confirmed as archaeological excavations continue to unearth layers of history beneath the sand and stones of the Jewish nation. Ongoing discoveries confirm the continuous Jewish connection to the land over the centuries, and in many cases bear out the truth of Biblical accounts.FIRST TEMPLE UNEARTHED AT SHILOH SITE:
