ISRAELI START-UP EXTRACTING WATER FROM AIR, AROUND THE WORLD: From the remote corners of India to the palm-lined streets of Miami-Dade County, one Israeli company is aiming to do the unthinkable – extract safe, inexpensive potable water from the air we breathe. “We created a product that can really be the next source of drinking water,” Maxim Pasik, executive chairman of Rishon Lezion-based Water Gen, told Israeli media sources on 13 April 2017. Water Gen made headlines at the AIPAC Policy Conference in Washington two weeks ago, when Prof. Alan Dershowitz presented the company’s GENius device, generating water out of thin air on stage. Just days earlier, the company had signed a memorandum of understanding to install its technology in Vietnam’s capital city, while days later, the firm inked another memorandum with India’s Vikram Solar Pvt. Ltd., to deploy solar powered Water Gen units in remote parts of the subcontinent. “All these countries that have the water shortages have a humid and hot climate,” Pasik said. “We take all the humidity from the air and extract the water.”
The memorandum of understanding signed with the Hanoi Department of Construction calls for the construction of a Water Gen factory, to produce industrial-scale water generators for the municipality, with a total capacity of up to 10,000 liters of water per day. “Our solution is 20 times cheaper than the solution for drinking water that they have,” Pasik said. “And what they drink is not healthy.” Yet Water Gen’s reach is by no means limited to the developing world. The products have recently generated interested in several Gulf countries, in Egypt, in Mexico and across the United States, Pasik said. In the USA, Water Gen is operating a pilot study in Miami-Dade County and is in talks with various entities in California, Chicago and Michigan, he added. Pasik said that in the future, technologies like Water Gen’s devices will have the capacity to prevent wars and foster peace, in regions where people are fighting for access to clean water. ISRAELIS SPEND 3.77 BILLION NIS ON PRE- PASSOVER CREDIT PURCHASES: Data from the automated bank services company which operates the central clearing system for Israeli credit cards has revealed that in the week before Passover Israelis spent some 830 million shekels on credit card transactions in food chains. This represents a 9.28% reduction compared with the same pre-Passover period in 2016 in which 915 million shekels were spent. The entire credit card purchase sum in all branches during the week preceding Passover was 3.77 billion NIS, as opposed to 3.73 billion NIS in the corresponding period last year - a rise of 0.9%. The heaviest volume of transactions fell on the Friday before Passover, with 495,000 transactions completed in the hour between 10 A.M. and 11 A.M. (Arutz-7) The exchange rate in Israel, if anyone wants to do the math, is 3.65 NIS to the USA dollar. Suffice it to say, 3.77 billion NIS, (close to a billion dollars), is a lot of groceries and goods!
FIRST –EVER VISIT TO ISRAEL BY INDIAN PRIME MINISTER SET FOR EARLY JULY: Indian PM Narendra Modi’s long-awaited visit to Israel will take place on 5-6 July 2017. According to the Hindustan Times, Modi will come to Israel – a first-ever visit by an India prime minister – on his way to take part in the G-20 Summit in Hamburg on 7- 8 July. The paper reported that G. Mohan Kumar, India’s defense secretary – which is the equivalent in Israel to the Defense Ministry’s director-general – will visit as well in late April 2017, for a working group meeting on military cooperation that will help prepare for Modi’s visit. Modi, in a break from previous high profile visits to Israel by senior Indian officials, is not expected to visit the Palestinian Authority. According to the report in the Hindustan Times, “though Israel is among the top four military hardware suppliers to India, with more than $1 billion in annual sales to New Delhi, the Modi government is keen to ensure that this visit is not focused on defense ties alone, but encompasses long-term economic and technological cooperation, resulting in a free-trade agreement.” The paper said that Modi’s visit will “be an open acknowledgment of India’s close ties with the Jewish state, and also pave the way for transfer of high-end agricultural technologies that will benefit Indian farmers.” In Feb. 2017 Modi approved a $2.5 billion missile deal with Israel. USA DROPS LARGEST CONVENTIONAL BOMB ON ISIS FORCES IN AFGHANISTAN: American forces in Afghanistan dropped a 22,000-pound GBU-43 bomb on ISIS forces in eastern Afghanistan on Thur. 13 April 2017, the Pentagon announced. A spokesman for USA forces in Afghanistan said ISIS in Afghanistan had lost more than half its territory and had 800 fighters spread between two provinces. At the group's height in Afghanistan, it had more than 3,000 fighters. The USA has 8,500 troops in Afghanistan, and has carried out more than 400 airstrikes on ISIS since the start of the year. There are also about 7,000 NATO troops in the country. As many as 36 suspected ISIS terrorists were killed in Thursday’ s USA attack. USA President Trump lauded the mission and said he had authorized the military to act. “If you look at what’s happened over the last eight weeks and compare that to what’s happened over the past eight years, you’ll see there’s a tremendous difference,” Trump said. Asked if the bombing sent a message to North Korea, Trump was unusually equivocal. “I don’t know if this sends a message. It doesn’t make any difference if it does or not. North Korea is a problem, the problem will be taken care of,” he said. White House spokesman Sean Spicer said the military took all precautions to prevent civilian casualties. “The United States takes the fight against ISIS very seriously, and in order to defeat the group, we must deny them operational space, which we did,” Spicer said. REPORT: HEZBOLLAH EVACUATING POSITIONS NEAR ISRAEL’S GOLAN HEIGHTS: Hezbollah forces have begun to evacuate territory near Syria's Golan region, not far from the Israeli border, after the USA State Department demanded that the Lebanese terror organization immediately leave the area, Syrian news agency Al-Ittihad reported on 13 April 2017. The report added that Hezbollah fighters began clearing their stronghold in the Qalamun Mountains nearly a week before the USA military conducted airstrikes against Syrian President Assad's air force on 6 April 2017. Al-Ittihad did not say why the terrorists left their positions on the eastern Syrian border region. According to the Syrian publication, at least 300 Hezbollah fighters have abandoned 14 positions in the Quneitra area, which sits in near proximity to Israel's Golan territory. The terrorists left with tanks, armored vehicles and heavy weapons as they made their way toward the Syrian capital of Damascus. USA State Department spokesman Mark Toner on 11 April 2017 addressed the threat the terrorist organization poses against the United States and its allies, demanding that they withdraw their forces and refrain carrying "on military operations in Syria in support of the Assad regime. Hezbollah forces have helped the Syrian government implement its brutality against its own people and also caused instability in Lebanon," Toner added. (J. Post)
TRUMP REVOKES OBAMA’S PARTING GIFT TO PLANNED PARENTHOOD: States in the USA will once again be able to defund Planned Parenthood after President Trump overturned an 11th-hour Obama administration regulation protecting funding for the nation's biggest abortion provider. Trump signed into law on Thurs.13 April, a bill reversing a Department of Health and Human Services regulation signed in Dec. 2017 that prevented states from blocking funding for Planned Parenthood. Obama's regulation reversed the policies of more than a dozen states that had prevented federal Medicaid dollars or other federal reimbursements from going to clinics that perform abortions. Trump signed the legislation one month after he said that he would continue to direct taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood if it stopped performing abortions. The organization performs more than 300,000 abortions each year - about one-third of the national total. The Trump administration’s resolution is considered part of a larger Republican-led effort to defund Planned Parenthood. The American Health Care Act called for partially slashing funds dedicated to the group, which is criticized by for providing abortion services. (Washington Free Becon) Abortion is murder of the most innocent members of our society! Intercede that men and women in authority would actively present and pass laws that respect all human life from conception to natural death.
USA DOCTOR CHARGED WITH GENITAL MUTILATION PROCEDURE ON GIRLS AGED SIX TO EIGHT: A USA doctor in Detroit has been arrested and charged with carrying out female genital mutilation on girls aged six to eight, prosecutors said on Thur. 13 April 2017. Emergency room doctor Jumana Nagarwala, 44, of Northville Michigan, is accused of carrying out the widely condemned practice - illegal in the United States - for 12 years from a medical office in Livonia, Michigan. She appeared in a USA federal court in Detroit on Thurs. If convicted at trial she faces a maximum sentence of life behind bars. Congress passed a law in 1996 making it illegal to perform genital mutilation or cutting in the United States on anyone under the age of 18. Twenty-five USA states also have laws prohibiting the practice. Prosecutors in Michigan say they believe it is the first case of its kind brought under the federal law. Some of Nagarwala’s victims traveled from outside Michigan and were told not to talk about the procedure, prosecutors said. “Dr Nagarwala is alleged to have performed horrifying acts of brutality on the most vulnerable victims,” said acting Assistant Attorney General Kenneth Blanco. “The Department of Justice is committed to stopping female genital mutilation in this country, and will use the full power of the law to ensure that no girls suffer such physical and emotional abuse.” (Times of Israel)
ANTI-SEMITISM SHARPLY INCREASED ON SEVERAL COLLEGE CAMPUSES IN 2016: A pro-Israel organization has released a report that finds anti-Semitism sharply increased on several college campuses in 2016. The report from the AMCHA Initiative shows that anti-Semitic activity skyrocketed by 40 percent last year at the college and university campuses with the largest number of Jewish students. Tammi Rossman Benjamin with the AMCHA Initiative wasn’t surprised by the finding. “I guess it’s not surprising because of the current climate in the country in general – but surprising to find it on campus and not necessarily from the traditional, classic anti-Semitic sources,” she shares. According to the report, while the number of anti-Semitic incidents increased, the total number of schools affected did not – “indicating that a select number of schools are experiencing surges” in such activity. The report identifies seven schools having the largest increase in anti-Semitic activity over the last year: Columbia University, Vassar College, New York University, University of Chicago, University of Wisconsin Madison, University of Minnesota and Ohio State University . (GOP-USA) Pray for the protection of Jewish students studying on USA university campuses, and that anti-Semitic acts and incitement will be severely penalized - including financial fines and expulsion for perpetrators.
