Israel Warned 30 Countries About Specific Terror Plots in 2017

“I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations.” Isa. 60:15

ISRAEL WARNED 30 COUNTRIES ABOUT SPECIFIC TERROR PLOTS IN 2017: In a stunning claim that would suggest far-reaching worldwide reliance on Israel’s intelligence agencies, Economy Minister Eli Cohen this week said that Israel warned 30 countries worldwide about specific terror plots in the course of 2017. “You all know that Australia got a phone call from the state of Israel with a specific warning that terrorists intend to blow up a plane. Actually, 30 countries got phone calls from Israel in 2017, in which the State of Israel called them and said to them: You need to know this and that are being planned, in this and that place, pay attention, there’s going to be an attack,” he said. Cohen made the remarks at a law conference at Tel Aviv University in the wake of reports that Israeli military intelligence foiled an ISIS attempt to bomb a flight from Australia last year. According to the IDF, Australian security forces in August 2017 arrested two men suspected of trying to place an improvised explosive device on an Etihad Airways flight out of Sydney in a plot directed by ISIS. Israel’s prowess in intelligence gathering and counter-terrorism is a central selling point for the Jewish state in its efforts to create and maintain relationships with foreign countries. NEW ISRAELI TECHNOLOGY REPLACES SURGEON’S KNIFE WITH NO-CUT ALTERNATIVE: Researchers at the Wolfson Faculty of Chemical Engineering at Haifa’s Technion-Israel Institute of Technology have developed a device that replaces the surgeon’s knife with natural biological materials. The researchers recently presented the application of this technology in a surgical procedure in the mouth. This device significantly reduces the pain associated with orthodontic surgery and significantly accelerates tissue restoration. The “blade” is based on the intelligent use of enzymes – biological molecules by which the body restores itself – as well as nanoparticles and technology for controlled release of drugs. Researchers emphasizes that the new approach can be applied in a variety of other surgical procedures. “In our study we present a significant paradigmatic change – the replacement of a mechanical-physical process with a biological process,” said one source. The research included physicians from Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center; physicians and dentists from Haifa’s Rambam Medical Center; and the Moriah Veterinary Center. (J.Post)

PALESTINIANS ACCIDENTALLY BURN OWN FACTORY IN PROTEST AGAINST IDF SOLDIERS: Palestinian protesters in Judea & Samaria inadvertently burned down a local factory this week while confronting IDF soldiers near the city of Nablus. According to media sources, protesters in the Nablus-area village of Beita on 25 Feb. 2018 were clashing with IDF soldiers and rolled burning tires in their direction. But one flaming tire had other plans and changed direction, rolling directly into a nearby plastics factory. The building went up in flames and the factory was completely destroyed. The report said Israeli firefighters arrived at the scene to help Palestinian Authority responders put out the fire. The Nablus area has seen low-level clashes between Israeli security forces and Palestinian protesters after an illegally built Jewish settlement outpost in the area sparked tensions. The makeshift homes in the outpost called Evyatar were dismantled by the army last week. (Times of Israel)

‘ISRAEL CARES MORE FOR PALESTINIAN LIFE THAN HAMAS DOES’: A Palestinian man from the Gaza Strip days ago stumbled across the security fence into Israeli territory after having been shot by Hamas forces. Soldiers with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), who are so often smeared as blood-thirsty racists, did not hesitate to provide the man with emergency medical treatment. IDF Maj.-Gen. Yoav Mordechai, head of COGAT (Coordinator for Government Activities in the Territories), took the opportunity to set the record straight, posting to Facebook in Arabic the following message to the people of Gaza: "Nothing simpler: a Palestinian passed the security fence from the Gaza Strip into Israel today after Hamas forces shot him. IDF soldiers helped him - this is a purely humanitarian issue. The State of Israel and its army care for Palestinian life more than Hamas does, and this is the issue. The more you internalize it, people of Gaza, you will understand that Hamas has nothing to offer. You deserve more!" (Israel Today) Continue to pray for a miracle of change to take place in the Gaza Strip government and for an overthrow of the Hamas terrorist organization.

IRAN SAYS MAY WITHDRAW FROM NUCLEAR DEAL IF BANS CONTINUE TO STAY AWAY: Iran will withdraw from the 2015 nuclear deal if there is no economic benefit and major banks continue to shun the Islamic Republic, its deputy foreign minister has threatened. Under the deal with Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States, Iran agreed to restrict its nuclear program in return for the removal of sanctions that have crippled its economy. Despite that, big banks have continued to stay away for fear of falling foul of remaining USA sanctions - something that has hampered Iran’s efforts to rebuild foreign trade and lure investment. Adding to those concerns, USA President Donald Trump told the Europeans on 12 Jan. 2018 they must agree to “fix the terrible flaws of the Iran nuclear deal” or he would re-impose the sanctions Washington lifted as part of that pact.

But even if Trump relents and issues fresh “waivers” to continue suspending those sanctions, the existing situation is unacceptable for Iran, Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said. “The deal would not survive this way even if the ultimatum is passed and waivers are extended. If the same policy of confusion and uncertainties about the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) continues, if companies and banks are not working with Iran, we cannot remain in a deal that has no benefit for us,” Araqchi said. Trump sees three defects in the deal: its failure to address Iran’s ballistic missile program; the terms under which international inspectors can visit suspect Iranian nuclear sites; and “sunset” clauses under which limits on the Iranian nuclear program start to expire after 10 years. (Reuters) Iran, with its support of global terrorism, its nuclear ambitions, its attempt to establish a military foot hold in Syria, and its unrelenting hateful tirades against Israel, is heading towards a major confrontation with the international community. Western powers and Arab nations in the Middle East are growing weary also of Iran’s hypocrisy, deceit and continued threats. Pray for Israel according to scripture: “All who rage against you will surely be ashamed and disgraced; those who oppose you will be as nothing and perish. Though you search for your enemies, you will not find them. Those who wage war against you will be as nothing at all. Isa. 41:11-12

VATICAN ROLLS OUT EXORCISM TRAINING COURSE TO COUNTER RISE IN ‘DEMONIC POSSESSIONS’: After seeing a three-fold increase in the demand for exorcisms, the Vatican announced last week it would hold a week-long conference to train priests in how to rid people of demonic possessions. The April 2018 gathering in Rome aims “to offer a rich reflection and articulation on a topic that is sometimes unspoken and controversial,” said exorcist Friar Benigno Palilla. “We touch on the most burning issues,” he said, “from the sects linked to Satanism to their story of liberation from their possession.” Palilla, who is one of the organizers of the event, said there are about 500,000 cases requiring exorcisms in Italy each year. He blames the uptick in demons on practices that “open the door to the devil and to possession” like seeking the advice of fortune tellers and Tarot card readers. But the church is concerned that many priests either haven’t learned or refuse to learn exorcism techniques. (NY Post)

ANTI-SEMITIC INCIDENTS IN 2017 MORE THAN DOUBLE IN USA TOTAL FROM 2017: The number of anti-Semitic incidents in the United States spiked in 2017, according to a new report by the Anti-Defamation League. There were 1,986 acts of anti-Semitism in the USA last year, according to an ADL audit released this week. That is more than double the total from 2015, which was 942. It’s also a 57% increase over the 2016 total of 1,267. The 2017 number includes more than 160 bomb threats sent to Jewish community centers and other institutions early that year. Anti-Semitic incidents on schools and college campuses also doubled in 2017 for the second year in a row. Non-Jewish elementary and high schools experienced 457 anti-Semitic incidents, compared to 235 in 2016 and 114 in 2015. Almost all of the instances were either harassment or vandalism, including seven instances of Jewish cemeteries being desecrated. There were also 19 anti-Semitic physical assaults (JTA)

POLISH JEWISH GROUPS SAY THEY DON’T FEEL SAFE DUE TO RISE IN ANTI-SEMITISM: Twenty-three Jewish organizations in Poland signed a joint letter in which they emphasize that they do not feel safe in Poland and call for mutual “respect and truth.” “Increasingly, hate speech has escaped the confines of the Internet to infiltrate the public sphere. It has found its way into newspapers and television broadcasts, including those belonging to public media outlets,” the letter states. The Jewish organizations also noted that Poland’s Jewish community has received a rising number of anti-Semitic messages. They emphasize that public officials have condemned anti-Semitism, but “do nothing to stop the spread of evil. The groups noted that the current wave of anti-Semitism is a response to the passing in the Polish Parliament and signing by the president of a controversial amendment limiting rhetoric on the Holocaust, that criminalizes claims that the Polish nation or state are responsible for Nazi crimes. (JTA) Pray for the protection of the Jewish community in Poland. Intercede also for open doors for those who desire to come to Israel. The bureaucratic steps of making this type of move from some European countries are highly complicated and tend to detour numbers of Jews, especially the poor, who would seriously consider making Aliya. Pray for the simplification of complex paper work involving location and translations of many required documents - and high fees.
