Feeding the Students
We recently received a heartwarming letter from a high school in Jerusalem. The students who attend the technological high school are at high risk and come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Most of the children come to school without having eaten any breakfast at home, due to financial and functional difficulties in their families. The school requested help from Vision for Israel, and we were able to provide breakfast for the children. Now the students are receiving sandwiches for breakfast, and they are learning much better without suffering from hunger until lunchtime.
The principal, Etti, wrote us a letter:
"I must tell you that the fact that the students come and eat breakfast is very beneficial for their ability to concentrate and improves their chances of succeeding in school. As a high school that works with youth at risk, we are witnesses to the significant effect that succeeding in school has on the future of these young men and women. It's very important for us to give them the best chance of success both in the [academic] level and in the functional level."
Etti told us that one of the students calls a teacher every time she's late and asks him to save her a sandwich. That is how important the food is for the students.
We are happy to be able to contribute to the students success by providing them with essential food.
