Gataso serves in the IDF as a security guard at a college in Jerusalem. He moved with his family of 8 to Israel from Ethiopia in 2011. They live in Kiryat Motzkin.

Gataso and his family face extreme financial hardship. His father, the sole provider for the entire family, earns only 5,000 NIS (about $1,400) per month. The family struggles to survive because they lack basic necessities. Gataso has started to work on the side to help bring in a little more money.

David has suffered from PTSD ever since his right hand was paralyzed in a stabbing attack 13 years ago. Now his family of 5 endures deep financial distress. He’s nearly bankrupt. His bank accounts have been frozen.

4 months ago, a fire from a neighbor’s house spread to David’s house and burned his living and dining rooms. The couches, a coffee table, the children’s computer, and the air conditioner were all destroyed. He had no insurance to cover the damage.

The synagogue at a northern army base has fallen into disrepair and no longer shows our soldiers the respect they deserve. Vision for Israel joined forces with the army base to make repairs. We have also committed to help fund remodeling and furnishing the synagogue. The remodel will include making structural repairs and providing new seats for the soldiers, Torah ark, prayer-leader stage, and 2 bookcases. In a few months, the soldiers will be able to enjoy a decent prayer and spiritual center.

Your Donations in Action: Dafna is a single mother and terror attack survivor who cares for her 3 children with a disability stipend and child support. She has been struggling to support her children while going through a long and difficult rehabilitation process since she suffered a severe leg injury during a rocket attack in the south of Israel in 2013.

So far your generous donations have allowed us to provide a mattress for one of the children, who was sleeping on blankets on the floor, along with food vouchers and a computer for the children. Thank you!

Rejoice with Jerusalem and be glad for her, All you who love her (Isaiah 66:10)

Today Jerusalem is celebrating 50 years since its reunification.

The 5,000 years old city, which has experienced so many wars and destructions, the city whose name holds the word "shalem" (whole), is celebrating five decades of being whole again. This week we celebrate and rejoice that we have the privilege to see this day.

This Sunday we will dedicate our new home, the Millennium Center!

The Millennium Center was born out of a vision of a lighthouse, where people could be sure of finding refuge and comfort in times of crisis and need.

Barry and Batya first envisaged such a place in 2008 and have watched and prayed during the intervening years as, thanks to the generous donations of VFI’s friends and partners, that vision was steadily built upon.
