Animal lovers will be happy to know that unused and expired items from The Joseph Storehouse are donated to shelters, local veterinarians and zoos in Israel. Recipients include the National Parks, Wildlife Societies, the SPCA in Jerusalem, the Monkey and Kangaroo Park, Let Animals Live, the Haikeff Zoo and the Biblical Zoo of Jerusalem.
One press report in 2005 revealed that local animal welfare organizations are on the brink of financial collapse due to insufficient government and municipal funding. The forecast is that many of the 30 shelters and animal services may be forced to terminate their operations in the coming months unless they receive substantial aid.
